How to Connect to Air Canada WiFi on Your Flight (ACWiFi.com Login Steps)
It takes about a minute.
- Turn on Airplane mode, then switch WiFi back on. Your device stays in flight mode but can still join WiFi.
- Join the network called ACWiFi.com.
- Open your browser. The login page should appear by itself. If it doesn't, type acwifi.com into the address bar. Type it, don't search for it.
- Members: sign in with your Aeroplan details so the free access is applied. Everyone else can pick a pass and pay.
Want a second device online? Repeat the same steps on it. Your session carries over. Air Canada doesn't state a device limit, so try it on board.
Air Canada lists Android, Apple (iOS and macOS), BlackBerry and Windows devices. Supported browsers are Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and Internet Explorer 8 or later. Chrome and Safari are the safest bets.
Who gets free WiFi on Air Canada?
Air Canada's free WiFi is sponsored by Bell. It's complimentary and streaming quality, from gate to gate, if you are:
- An Aeroplan member (joining is free)
- A United MileagePlus member with your number added to the Air Canada booking
- Travelling in Business Class
- On the same reservation as an Aeroplan member, according to Air Canada
This covers flights within North America and to Sun destinations, on Air Canada mainline and Air Canada Rouge. Some Air Canada Express flights are covered too, including CRJ900 jets, and Q400 and Embraer E175 aircraft added in late 2025.
Flying with United? Aeroplan members also get free WiFi on United's Starlink-equipped aircraft. Make sure your Aeroplan number is on the reservation, then enter your date of birth and United booking confirmation code when you sign in.
Leaving from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport? Every passenger gets free streaming-quality WiFi on Air Canada flights from there. No membership needed.
Add your Aeroplan number before you check in, either when you book or under Manage Booking. If it isn't attached, the login page will offer you a paid pass instead of free access.
Can you use it before takeoff?
Air Canada describes the free offer as gate to gate, so eligible passengers should be able to connect at the gate. Some older guides say WiFi only works above 11,000 feet, but we couldn't confirm that for Air Canada. If it won't connect on the ground, try again once you're in the air.
Streaming, calls and texting
Free WiFi means real internet access, and Air Canada calls it streaming quality. It doesn't publish speeds or promise specific apps like Netflix or YouTube, and quality depends on the aircraft and how many people are online. If you need something for the flight, download it before you leave.
Voice calls aren't supported, including calls over the internet.
Free texting for Aeroplan members
Even without full free WiFi, Aeroplan members can text for free, also sponsored by Bell. Supported apps include iMessage, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Messages by Google, WeChat, LINE, KakaoTalk, Telegram, Tencent QQ and Viber. It's text only, so photos, videos and attachments won't send. Free messaging is also available on some international flights.
For it to work, your Aeroplan number needs to be on the booking before you check in. If you add it later, the offer may not switch on.
Not eligible for free WiFi? Your options
- Buy a pass on board. Choose a plan on the ACWiFi login page and pay by card. Air Canada says the price depends on flight length and no longer publishes a rate card, so you'll see the cost when you sign in.
- Use Aeroplan points. Sign in to your Aeroplan account on the login page and redeem points for WiFi.
- Join Aeroplan. It's free, and it unlocks free texting and free WiFi on eligible flights.
The Air Canada app and aircanada.com are free for everyone on board, no pass needed.
Which flights have WiFi?
Air Canada's fast WiFi launched on May 1, 2025. At launch about 88% of the fleet was equipped, with the rest planned for early 2026. Coverage is still growing, so the safest move is to check your own flight with the WiFi availability checker on Air Canada's site, by flight number or route. It usually only shows flights in the next few days. Aircraft substitutions can also put you on a plane without WiFi.
| Flight type | WiFi |
| Mainline, North America and Sun destinations | Free for Aeroplan, MileagePlus and Business Class; paid for others |
| Air Canada Rouge | WiFi on all flights, same rules as mainline |
| Air Canada Express (CRJ900, Q400, E175) | Rolled out in stages; confirm your flight |
| Flights from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | Free for all passengers |
| Long-haul international | Free WiFi planned for 2026; not confirmed as launched, so treat as paid unless your booking says otherwise |
Sun destinations is Air Canada's name for its beach and resort routes, such as Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America. Check your booking to see if your route counts.
Can't connect? Try this
I don't see the ACWiFi.com network.
Your aircraft may not have WiFi. Check the flight first. If it should, toggle WiFi off and on again.
The login page won't open.
Type acwifi.com into the address bar. Or forget the network, toggle Airplane mode and rejoin. Trying another browser can help too.
My free access isn't showing.
Check that your Aeroplan number is on the booking under Manage Booking or My Trips. If you added it after check-in, it may not have applied.
Free texting isn't working.
Usually the same cause: the number wasn't on the booking at check-in. Also make sure you're using a supported app and sending text only.
It keeps dropping.
Stay on ACWiFi.com and reload the login page. Speeds can dip during takeoff, landing and on busy flights.
Still stuck? For technical support, go to care.inflightinternet.com. For refunds on paid passes, Air Canada points to gogoair.com.
Before you fly
Charge your devices first. USB charging is available on every flight. Power outlets are at every Business Class and Air Canada Signature Class seat, and at select Economy seats.
